Default Clear out your cookbooks

Clear out your cookbooks

1. Are there some you never use – maybe the recipes are too complicated or not healthy enough? Put those in your donation basket or recycle bin.
2. Are there some with only a few recipes you want? Tear those out and pop them in a folder, plastic sleeve or display book. Add the books to the recycle bin.
3. Arrange the remaining recipe books neatly.

And you’re done!

Now you can get to the good recipes more quickly and easily.

Remember: 1. Move fast. 2. Don’t overthink. 3. Feel great about getting organized!

Start the 5-minute timer now.

Yay!!! This one was already done.

My extended family were always trying to encourage me to become a gourmet cook, a task that never appealed to me, and so I had book shelves full of gifted cookbooks. When we moved I threw them all into a skip bin. I know that seams wasteful but my family would come around to help me pack and so the only way to get rid of them without hurting their feelings was to chuck them into the bottom of the skip.

We now have 3 cookbooks - a kids birthday cake cookbook, marg fulton and asia at home. Atleast one of them will get used weekly and they live in the kitchen in the cupboard above the microwave, the cupboard that I can't reach, but as I have NO INTEREST in cooking, that suits me just fine

"To give up pretensions is as blessed a relief as to get them gratified." ~ William James

I love the liberating feeling of letting go of something you don't really care about. Yay you!

My Husband and I want to eat more healthy so it's my intention to learn to cook with basic ingredients. I never really learned to cook and I can't say that I am drawn much to cooking but if you want to eat more healthy, then learning to cook is a must. I get a lot of recipies on line so I put them in a recipe file folder until I try them, then if I like them I put them either in a recipe box or in a plastic sleave in a note book. I just recently brought some recipe books and recipes from our home in CA to our corporate housing home in CT but they were still in a bag so I spent my 5 minutes putting these items either on the book shelf with my other book, box or binders. There is a lot more room for improvement here but 5 minutes isn't much time.

That sounds like 5 minutes well spent!

I guess your recipe file/binder will evolve as you experiment with new recipes. Just keep getting rid of recipes you don't use and you'll keep it pretty tidy and organized.

I don't have any cookbooks yet. But I'll keep this in mind for when I get them.

I found this a great idea- it just makes sense to have what you need right at hand and not have unnecessary "stuff" however nicely presented getting in the way.
