52 Organizing Missions

Welcome to Mission #16 of our 52 Get Organized Missions.

When we get down to decluttering, our books, CDs, & DVDs often escape the treatment. Somehow they receive special dispensation.

Not anymore!

In this mission we’re going to attack these dust collectors – and we’ll be ruthless! Just like we were in our last mission, Get Organized Mission #15: Organize Your Kitchen.

Remember: you only need 30 minutes for the basic mission. Extended Options are below.

If you’re new, you might like to start here: 52 Organizing Missions.

Our group responses are as follows:
Step 1 De-clutter: unnecessary items on your dresser. Place shoe boxes in the closet. Hang your clothes on hangers or put in the appropriate drawer.
Step 2 Consider the Colors: For people who rent check with management to see if you are allowed to paint your apartment if they say yes check to see if you have to repaint the apartment back to its original color when you move out. To create a new look in the bedroom behind the bed purchase an extending curtain rod and a floral sheet of your choice and hang it up for fresh look. Colors can have major effects on the way you feel. Cool blues and greens tend to lower the heart rate and ease tension. Soft neutrals evoke cleanliness, harmony, and stability.
Step 3 Pick soft textures: Create a soft, inviting place that makes you feel the most comfortable. Add accent pillows, throws, and bedding with high thread counts to feel the ultimate in comfort.
Step 4 Choose the right light: Standing lamps.
Step 5: Add extra oomph with another headboard! Make a statement with your bed! Whether it’s upholstered and adorned with nail trim or rustic stained wood, let it be a reflection of you!
Step 6 Take a seat.Adding a chair or bench at the head of thebed! Whether it’s a bench at the end of the bed or comfy overstuffed chairs by a window, creating a seating area gives a quiet space to get away or curl up with a good book.
